Q: “Who inspires your style of music?“
A: “I would definitely have to say God (first of all), life in general, Michael Jackson, Lecrae, Kirk Franklin, Tye Tribbett, Chris Brown, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Eric Bellinger, Busta Rhymes; the list goes on!”
Influenced by a diverse group of artist, Mike Teezy has developed a sound that is all his own. He would describe hisself as a melting pot. Mike Teezy’s childhood passion was to dance; he would watch legends like Michael Jackson and James Brown for hours, and try to mimic their moves on the kitchen floor. Mike Teezy later found his love for drums and percussion instruments; and acquired the nickname “Drummer Boy” throughout grade school. He then discovered his gift of poetry and crafty way with words. In college, Mike Teezy was well known for his Christian values and dance skills; but one thing that didn’t line up with his values and beliefs, was the music that he listened and danced to. After his fall semester, Mike attended a Watch Night service at Greater Faith Ministries of Winston, pastored by his parents Pastor Michael and Dyan Tyree, where he rededicated his life to the Lord. That night, Mike Teezy made the decision to take a stand for Christ, one hundred percent. When he arrived back to his college he took out a loan to purchase a MacBook Pro and a USB Microphone, and started making his own music in the bathroom closet of his College apartment. Humble beginnings, but that was the start of his new assignment from God. Now, Mike Teezy has created quite a name for himself, acquiring thousands of fans around the world, through the popular multi-media: YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
